A French Mirage 2000-D fighter jet has disappeared from radar in a mountainous area of jap France, prompting fears it could have crashed.

French officers stated the airplane vanished from radar at round 11:00 native time (10:00 GMT) on Wednesday.

It had taken off from the Nancy-Ochey air base shortly beforehand with two crew on board.

The crew members haven’t made contact and a search operation has been launched, officers say.
