Irvington man in trunk, walking her dog in New Jersey.
Authorities say a teenage girl discovered a man trapped in the trunk of a car Thursday morning while walking her dog in New Jersey.
“The incident this morning was very crazy,” says Marie Banks, whose 17-year-old daughter made the discovery.
The teen was walking her dog at around 7:10 a.m. in Irvington when she heard a series of strange noises coming from a parked car on the street.
“She heard some scratching and some banging, and she thought she was hearing things. Then she heard it again, then she heard someone saying, ‘help, help, someone help me, someone help me, I need help, someone help me,’” Banks said.
The girl ran to a neighbor’s house to call the police and then ran home to alert her mother.
“She had an extremely terrified look on her face, she says, ‘mommy, it feels like I was just in a horror movie,’” Banks told reporters.
Union County prosecutors say the man in the trunk was the victim of a carjacking, kidnapping robbery.
They say the initial carjacking took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Hillside. The two suspects, who prosecutors say were armed with guns, took him to several banks in the area and forced the man to empty out his account befor stuffing him back in the trunk of his car, leaving him alone to survive the cold night.
Police are still looking for those two suspects.
