Amazon fulfillment center shooting: 1 dead, 2 hurt in ‘targeted’.
At least two people were shot Monday afternoon at the Amazon fulfilment center on the northside of Jacksonville, Florida, the local sheriff’s office said.
Jacksonville sheriff’s deputies and firefighters responded to a “possible shooting” today next to the Jacksonville International Airport involving two patients at 1300 Pecan Park Road, the address for the area’s Amazon fulfilment center.
Posts to social media said management had placed the warehouse on lockdown and paramedics had arrived on the scene. Several witnesses on the scene confirmed on Twitter there was still an “active shooter” at the Amazon shipping center. A photograph posted to Twitter Monday showed shattered glass on a warehouse window and paramedics assisting someone just outside the fulfillment center break room.
Update: According to JSO, a man was in line for job applications at the center when two suspects, both in their 20s, exited a vehicle and shot him. Two other men were shot, but are expected to be OK. The shooting did not appear to be random.
Local Jacksonville news station WJXT-TV first reported the shooting at around 2 p.m. local time, although it is unclear if the individual was shot inside or outside the facility.
